Card supplies are sold on numbers that mean different things than buyers assume. A toploader's "35pt" rates the card it accepts, not the holder's thickness. Sleeve micron claims conflict between vendors for the same product name. And card sizes differ by game, so sleeve classes are not interchangeable.
The one thing to know: A toploader’s "PT" number is a CARD thickness rating, not the thickness of the toploader itself. One point equals 0.001 inch (0.0254 mm), so a 35pt toploader is built to accept a card up to 0.035 inch thick — which is why a standard 12–20pt base card fits comfortably inside one even while wearing a penny sleeve.

Frequently Asked Questions
Card size is not universal. Pokémon cards are 63.5 × 88 mm and Magic: The Gathering cards 63 × 88 mm, both taking "standard" sleeves around 66 × 91 mm. Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are 59 × 86 mm and need Japanese-size sleeves around 62 × 89 mm. A Yu-Gi-Oh! card physically fits a standard sleeve but sits loose and shifts, which is why the sizes are sold separately.
They will physically fit, but a 59 × 86 mm Yu-Gi-Oh! card sits loose inside a sleeve built for a 63 × 88 mm card and shifts during handling. Japanese-size sleeves around 62 × 89 mm are sold specifically for this size.
A Pokémon card is 63.5 × 88 mm and takes a standard sleeve, commonly around 66 × 91 mm — the same class used for Magic: The Gathering.
